A Soviet design introduced in 1983, the Mi-26 remains in production with some 400 units manufactured to date. Capable of transporting up to 90 troops or 20 tons of cargo, military users include Russia, Algeria, China, Mexico, India, and North Korea. Due to its high cargo capacity and reliability the Mi-26 is also employed in the civilian market.
