    Inexpensive Excellence

Posted by Unknown on 9th Jun 2016

I'm getting back into wargaming after a 15 year hiatus. I stumbled across GameCraft on one of the forums for the game I frequent (which is Battletech). Nothing like these laser cut kits were available back in the late 90s/early oughts when I built my gaming terrain, so I was very interested to see what was out now. I did a little research, and saw that people were pleased with the matboard buildings, and that the prices were excellent. So I ordered two 4 building sets to try. I also ordered the recommended glue from Amazon and sat back to wait. Once everything arrived, I set to work building them after watching the youtube video on working with matboard buildings. I didn't quite pay close enough attention, though. One 3 of the 8 buildings I managed to assemble the corners in such a way that the two L parts wouldn't join up. Thankfully, they were easy enough to cut apart with a knife and correct. Perhaps the parts could be numbered on the back sides? Not a big deal, though. The buildings were still easy to assemble. I also ordered the recommended sealer & wood filler and am now nearly ready to get all 8 into primer and paint this weekend, weather permitting. I've since ordered 6 more sets of buildings as well as some of the more complex kits to try. All in all, I'd recommend these with no reservations. Allen Rockwell has been excellent about shipping things promptly and responding to questions. I think maybe I'll try some of the street kits next so I can have a proper cityscape on my table.
